The Market, previously Nimbin Aquarius Fair, presents a centrally located venue in the picturesque heritage surrounds of the Nimbin Community Centre where colourful stall-displays delight the eye and delectable coking aromas pique the appetite. Strategically placed buskers provide acoustic guitar music for a pleasant background sound to round off an overall delightful market experience, the market is close to village amenities, internet-café, one of Nimbin’s major coffee houses and is opposite the bus stop.

Displays of unique craft compete with exotic imports and second hand items tempt the bargain hunter. Experienced practitioners offer massage and allied therapies in relaxing surrounds. Fruit and vegetables are offered at unbeatable prices and culinary delights of freshly cooked mouth-watering dishes and snacks make the ‘third and fifth’ Sunday at Nimbin an alternative occasion to remember.

Situated in the grounds, for those who prefer to eat indoors, there is an excellent restaurant featuring a distinct ethnic decor and cuisine. Among the many items on sale are original art works, prints and a great range of post-cards. For patrons interested in art exhibitions, the ‘Nimbin Regional Gallery’ is another of the attractions situated in the Community Centre and is open on market-day.

An unusual feature exists in the form of an alternative funding system, a type of LET note that is accepted at several of the stalls. Also, these can be earned and spent in appropriate venues throughout the Northern Rivers Region of NSW. The LETS Group often have a booth at the market that offers information for those interested in an alternative to the present system..

Market-goers at the Nimbin Market also have the unusual opportunity of viewing a radio station in action. NIM-FM 102.3 will arrange for visitors to view a broadcast in progress and perhaps have an ‘on air’ experience in the broadcasting studio. Phone: Studio on 0266 890 277 or the office on 0266 890 279 or maybe just call in person, at the studio. NIM-FM is part of the Community Centre Complex.
