Burri Jerome, aboriginal artist and story teller, promised to help create the Bundjalung Room and true to his word set up camp in the Museum in the first weeks painting a favourite local story. Above this painting Burri has set out in traditional cave art symbols the history of
aboriginal people in this area telling their story over tens of thousands of years.

These are some words from a song by a local Bundjalung Elder which were used extensively during the Timbarra gold mine blockade. Beneath the paint is a Ross Mining "keep out" sign recycled from the mine site.

This kombi is genuine, dragged out from under the lantana on a hippy commune. Years ago it brought new settlers from the southern cities up here to join the alternative movement. It now houses the Museums sound system.
